Up and Out!
If you’re like me it’s easy getting intimidated by…WRITING!
It can be daunting and/or our best friend. Ever get so many ideas in your head and can’t figure out how to get them all down?
Have you thought of countless ideas for your characters and aren’t sure which ones to choose or which ones work as well?
Stepping back is part of the writing process because it gives our mind a chance to ‘stew’ and get it all together. When a stew is made all the ingredients meld together and become changed. All the flavors aren’t singular anymore. The same goes with writing.
Some days I eat, sleep, and think about the stories and writing projects. It helps me unravel the cobwebs and look at everything differently. Then suddenly, no ideas arise for a time. It could be a week or even a month depending on the project.
Ever hear the saying, “You can’t see the forest for the trees”? I think writing can be the same way sometimes. When you immerse yourself in creating a story it’s easy to get flustered and aggravated because the novel isn’t working as planned or there’s a hiccup somewhere and you just can’t figure it out.
That’s when it’s time to stop, take a break and refresh yourself, and think about something else for a while.
When our body is eating the same food all the time what happens? It misses nutrients and needs other things such as fruit, vegetables, etc.
I perceive it’s the same way with ideas and story lines. It’s okay to hibernate for a while.
Let your mind recharge. Before you know it, you’ll be up and out recharged and rejuvenated. Ready to continue your quest of creating lands, novels, and inspirations to share with the world.
Don’t quit! Whenever you feel frustrated remember, “Up and Out!”
